PRESSTRADE – ALL ABOUT FORGING PRESS

The main advantage of a forging press compared to a forging hammer is the ability to shape the complete workpiece. When forging with a drop hammer, only the surfaces in contact with the hammer and anvil are typically formed. When using a forging press the complete workpiece can be in contact with the tool and the rate of material deformation can be controlled far more easily.

However, as a result of the slower material deformation the workpiece is in contact with the dies for longer. The production rate can also be slower depending upon the number of forging operations required. Nevertheless, when configured for high productivity, a forging press is usually more economical than a forging hammer.

PRESSTRADE are experienced in all forging processes and technologies and are able to provide ancillary equipment to maximise the efficiency of the main forging process.
