In contrast to the high speeds and rapid material deformation associated with hammer
forging, the closed-die forging process is much slower and is characterised by the application of a
continuous force/pressure at much lower speeds. The time that a closed die workpiece is in contact with
the dies is typically measured in multiples of seconds compared to milliseconds for a hammer forging and
the process can be used with hot or cold workpieces, depending upon the design of the part and the
tooling.
PRESSTRADE has a large warehouse with all kind of forging equipment in the South of Germany. In the
field of closed-die forging you can find: Forging presses, screw presses, performing, trimming and
calibrating presses, forging hammers, upsetters, billet shears, saws and forging rolls. Also a lot of
different cold forging presses for closed-die forging can be found.
Even technology in closed-die forging can be offered through experienced engineers
