A calibrating press is used for stamping or
calibrating. During the calibrating operation forged parts are
calibrated to a certain size or stamped with a certain imprint.
The calibrating press can be applied both in hot- and cold
forging.
Depending on the tool and the press type, the calibrating
operation can already be carried out during the trimming
process.
The following press types can be used:
-
eccentric presses
-
hydraulic presses
-
screw presses
-
knuckle-joint presses
The calibrating press must basically be capable
of producing high pressure forces at inferior forming work. If a
mechanical calibrating press is applied, very high resiliencies
can occur which demand a lot from the press type.
In most cases a calibrating press is applied where the stability
of the forging press has to be exceeded.
